We matched member donations once again this spring, raising $26,981.00 for Second Harvest and providing an estimated 130,500 meals to at-risk local families!
Knowing the compassionate and generous nature of our members, as well as the challenges our community is currently experiencing, we decided to increase our efforts and match 100% of member donations for the second time in the last seven months. With your help, we raised $26,981 this spring to help local at-risk families through Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio and their Harvest for Hunger campaign.
LorMet Credit Union and its members have now raised over $100,000 and provided an estimated 500,000 meals for local families through Second Harvest since 2016.
The effects of this pandemic have continued to present new challenges for local food banks. Second Harvest is currently serving four times the meals they did one year ago, and one out of three Lorain County citizens have needed to visit a food bank, soup kitchen, or hunger center at least once over the past year. Over 40% of those served by local hunger centers are children. Second Harvest is depending on their annual Harvest for Hunger campaign to meet the increase in demand.
Over the years, our members have proven repeatedly that they will help their neighbors overcome any crisis. Your generosity will feed so many in our community during these challenging times.
