National Tube Lorain Works Employees’ Credit Union

Our story began in 1936 as the National Tube Lorain Works Employees’ Credit Union. With 1,167 members and $15,470.53 in assets, our founders’ determination built the legacy LorMet stands on today.

LorMet Origin History

1950s

U.S. Steel Corp., Lorain Works Employees’ Credit Union

The 1950s brought machine posting and payroll deduction. By the end of the 1960s, assets exceeded $5 million and our name evolved to the U.S. Steel Corp., Lorain Works Employees’ Credit Union.

LorMet Allied Credit Union

In the 1990s, we expanded to serve employers across Lorain County. Our name changed to LorMet Allied Credit Union, reflecting a broader membership, while 24/7 phone access and advanced online processing moved us into the digital age.

LorMet Community Federal Credit Union

In 2000, we received a federal community charter, opening membership to all of Lorain County. LorMet Community Federal Credit Union launched our signature Amherst Branch and introduced online banking and bill pay.

Today, LorMet Community Federal Credit Union is the top auto lender in Lorain County. With over 21,000 members and $275 million in assets, we proudly serve Lorain County, Bay Village, Rocky River, Westlake, North Olmsted, Olmsted Falls, and Olmsted Township as a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative.
