At LorMet Community Credit Union, community is more than a word, it is our purpose. When a need arises in the communities we serve, we believe in stepping forward, especially at critical moments. That commitment was recently put into action when LorMet helped ensure the success of The Chronicle’s Not-Forgotten Box holiday toy drive, benefiting thousands of children across Lorain and Elyria.

Stepping Up When It Mattered Most

As the deadline for The Chronicle’s Not-Forgotten Box toy drive approached, organizers faced a significant shortfall. The goal was ambitious: 8,000 toys for local children, and the gap threatened the ability to meet the needs of families who rely on this annual effort to bring joy to the holiday season.

After learning about the shortfall through a Chronicle newsletter detailing the drive’s progress, LorMet President/CEO Daniel Cwalina reached out directly to see how LorMet could help. That conversation quickly turned into action.

LorMet made a donation that helped close the gap and keep the toy drive moving forward, ensuring that more than 2,000 children in Lorain and Elyria would not be forgotten this holiday season.

This is what local leadership looks like: paying attention, responding quickly, and doing what is right for the community.

A Longstanding Commitment to Giving Back

Supporting the Not-Forgotten Box is one example of LorMet’s broader, ongoing commitment to strengthening Lorain County. Community impact is woven into everything we do, from financial services to philanthropy.
